Lovells' global technology team advises clients on the full range of contentious and non-contentious technology matters and provides clients with co-ordinated, multi-jurisdictional advice on complex cross-border projects. The team of specialists contains several lawyers who have backgrounds in the IT industry and are accordingly experienced in both the legal and commercial aspects of technology problems.
Our expertise includes advising on the entire range of commercial agreements in relation to the development, implementation and licensing of IT systems and the outsourcing of IT services. We also represent clients in relation to computer security matters, including security breaches (where charges have been brought under anti-hacking legislation) and blackmail (relating to disclosure of encryption keys). We are very familiar with the regulatory regimes attached to the use of encryption technologies.
As part of a fully integrated Intellectual Property, Technology and Media group we advise extensively on the patentability of software and business methods. We also work closely with the Projects group on the technology aspects of PPP and PFI arrangements. Lovells is a regular participant at events run by the National Outsourcing Association, the European Outsourcing Association and Intellect.
