Lovells is only one of a few City firms to maintain a media and entertainment franchise with clients in publishing, music, broadcasting, computer games and films. Lovells' international network of offices in Europe and Asia gives us a competitive advantage over other firms which practise in this area. Our team is able to draw on expertise in e-commerce, information technology, intellectual property and telecoms to deal with issues across the board. We have a long-standing reputation for providing expert advice on a broad range of corporate, commercial, litigation and regulatory matters in the media field.

In Asia, Lovells is one of the few international firms to have a dedicated media and entertainment capability. Through our offices in China, Hong Kong and Japan we also act for clients in fighting counterfeiters of digital media.

The team advises corporate and individual clients on how to manage media crises, including bringing and defending defamation, malicious falsehood, breach of confidence and privacy claims as well as complaints to the Press Complaints and Broadcasting Standards Commissions and actions before the Copyright Tribunal. We give pre-publication advice to newspapers and television companies. We act in contempt of court, copyright, trade mark and passing-off actions for media clients.
