- acting for a UK telecommunications operator in a dispute relating to the development and commissioning of a US$30 million telephone billing system
- acting for O2 in its defence and striking out of Unipart's claim for £100m damages regarding allegations of overpricing for wholesale airtime
- advising Alstom in relation to its dispute with British Airways regarding the software and programmable logic controls designed to operate the worldwide cargo centre at London Heathrow Airport
- advising a Tier I software vendor in its action against HM Government preventing the transfer of its software to an outsourcing service provider
- acting for Renault UK Limited, the UK subsidiary of Renault SA, in relation to a third party's registration and use of the domain name www.vavavoom.co.uk, Renault having a valuable reputation and goodwill in the words "va va voom" which it had been using since 1998 in relation to the promotion of its Renault Clio car; we obtained an interim injunction preventing use of the domain name and subsequently made an application for summary judgment on behalf of Renault
- acting for Volvo Trade Mark Holding AB in proceedings against Dinex Limited, an independent supplier of exhaust systems for trucks and buses, over Dinex's registration and use of the domain name www.volvoexhausts.com. The action taken included the commencement of ICANN dispute resolution proceedings, including the submission of a complaint.
Matters on which we have advised and which were resolved through ADR methods include:
- advising a database supplier in relation to a licensing agreement with a company in the travel industry
- advising a leading financial institution in connection with the termination of a failing £20m fixed price development contract which was estimated would cost the supplier £60m to complete
- advising an international bank in connection with a dispute which resulted in the termination of its contract for the outsourcing of its voice and data network requirements
- advising a mobile phone operator in connection with its dispute with the supplier of a US$30m telephone billing system
- advising a listed US software house in connection with a US$60m failed systems development project for a major satellite broadcaster
