- advising on many of the largest and most complex recalls of products in Europe and around the world including, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical devices, motor vehicles, car windscreens, power tools, lawnmowers, beer bottles, cigarette lighters, animal foodstuff, bicycle components, sporting equipment, confectionary, electronic games, batteries, computer equipment, mobile phones and other electrical appliances
- co-ordination of product liability litigation, including advice regarding PR and crisis communications, for various major US and European manufacturers of pharmaceuticals and medical devices in 25 countries throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia
- acting for a manufacturer of the MMR vaccines in UK group litigation brought on behalf of autistic children
- co-ordinating the defence of claims throughout Europe by persons alleging that they contracted HIV or HCV through contaminated blood products
- assisting a European pharmaceutical company to respond to a threatened revocation of its marketing authorisation on the basis of new safety data
- acting for the principal UK tobacco companies in obtaining an unprecedented judgment of the European Court of Justice annulling the EU Directive banning tobacco advertising
- acting for one of the world's largest tobacco companies in relation to claims brought by smokers, governments and health authorities in the US, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, Germany, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Australia and Italy
- advising on the largest ever transatlantic insolvency proceedings arising from asbestos liabilities
- defending asbestos claims against companies in a wide range of industries
- monitoring and advising on strategy issues arising from international asbestos-related litigation against US and European-based defendants
- advising an international telecommunications company on risk management and litigation in relation to RF radiation from base stations and mobile phones
- acting for manufacturers of motor vehicle components including airbags, seat belts, steering wheels and fully integrated automobile safety systems on product safety and liability issues and regulatory compliance
- advising on EU safety and related regulations, including the Directive on Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), the Directive banning Phthalates in toys, the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), and the REACH proposals
- advising leading international cosmetics companies on product safety issues, regulatory compliance, and product liability claims
- advising leading aircraft manufacturers on product safety and liability issues, including litigation in connection with aviation accidents.
