  • Advising on a claim for actuarial negligence brought against a major international accountancy firm.
  • Acting in proceedings to determine the statutory interpretation of "employer" for scheme specific funding purposes (Hearn & others v Dobson & another [2008] All ER (D) 233 (Jul)).
  • Bringing rectification proceedings in order to avoid the consequences of a mistake in the rules of a scheme which would otherwise cost many millions of pounds.
  • Defending claims against directors of a corporate trustee for breach of trust (Gregson v HAE Trustees [2008] All ER (D) 105 (May)).
  • Acting for Independent Trustees appointed by the Pensions Regulator under the emergency powers of the 2004 Pensions Act in a challenge to their appointment before the Determinations Panel of the Pensions Regulator (Telent Scheme).
  • Persuading the Pensions Ombudsman to discontinue his investigation into a serious complaint against a trustee.
  • Advising trustees on claims against the DWP and DTI in connection with the European Insolvency Directive.
