We advise across the full range of investment funds and have acted on funds investing in equities, bonds, derivatives, commodities, real estate, private equity, infrastructure projects and PFI and other asset classes in both developed and developing markets. We are particularly active in the hedge fund, real estate fund, private equity fund and infrastructure fund sectors. We have established both unlisted funds and funds listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), the Specialist Fund Market (SFM) and the Luxembourg, Channel Islands and Irish stock exchanges.
We have set up funds in the form of open and closed ended investment companies, unit trusts, limited partnerships, contractual schemes and many multi-tiered fund structures. We offer expertise on funds domiciled in the UK and other European jurisdictions such as Luxembourg and those established "offshore", for example in Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. We also have a growing practice advising on Shariah compliant funds. To complement this, we offer cross-border capability, with extensive experience across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The investment funds practice is able to draw on specialists from other areas of the firm. This includes not just specialists in funds taxation and securities regulation, but also real estate, infrastructure, PFI and private equity specialists, as well as capital markets and structured product lawyers working with cutting edge structured products linked to fund investments.
