Recent work includes:
advising various clients on political and regulatory initiatives under the EU's Financial Services Action Plan, including designing and implementing governmental affairs and communications strategies in Brussels and member states
advising numerous corporate clients on all aspects of advertising and sales promotion law including: advising on compliance of advertising on TV, radio, the internet and in print with applicable legislation and codes; the lawful operation of loyalty schemes; defending challenges to advertising by the UK authorities and making formal complaints on behalf of clients to UK authorities in connection with advertising campaigns
working with in-house European counsel and external affairs teams of a multinational corporation in respect of EU policy developments and regulatory initiatives of relevance to its UK and European snack food and pet care businesses, including early warning of upcoming developments, identification of potential implications, creation of issue management and communications tools and design of appropriate public affairs strategies
advising on the adoption of EU legislation by the new EU Member States in order to identify inconsistencies and conflicts with current EU legislation, designing appropriate lobby strategies, preparing arguments and submissions in conjunction with local counsel for use with relevant national ministries to achieve the necessary legislative changes
providing advice and assistance to various companies on a broad range of EU regulatory and policy issues such as product liability, company law and governance, corporate social responsibility and consumer protection legislation, including monitoring and analysing key initiatives, preparing short briefings for use in internal government affairs strategy discussions and advising on the relevant decision-making and regulatory procedures.
