- Public policy and new regulation, including identifying new developments in national, EU and international policy, assessing the likely impact of proposed developments, assisting in influencing the content of the proposed legislation by helping clients to present their views to decision-makers, and where necessary drafting amendments to proposed legislation.
- Compliance, including explaining what in practical terms is required to comply with the existing legislative framework, advising on the creation and development of new products and services within the relevant regulatory environment, advising above and below the line on marketing activity, and advising on regulation on products and services including environmental law and waste management.
- Challenge, to regulators and by regulators, including advising on judicial review proceedings and challenges before the EU institutions, for example, seeking an annulment of legislation or individual decisions, or in the event that a company is challenged by a regulatory authority (eg trading standards) or a competitor, assessing and advising on the options available, arranging meetings with key officials, and providing representation.
