Martin Sura leads Lovells' German competition law practice. Martin trained with the firm in 1994, qualified in 1995 and became a partner in 2001. Before moving to the firm's Düsseldorf office in 1999, he has worked in the firm's Hamburg and Brussels offices. Martin is regularly advising clients in cartel investigations (such as the current investigation against leading German insurers) and is involved in competition litigation both before the European Courts in Luxemburg and German courts. Martin's merger control experience covers a wide range of industries, including financial services and insurance. He regularly advises clients both before national authorities, in particular the German Bundeskartellamt, and the EC Commission.
Martin is co-author of a leading German language commentary on EU and German competition law, and also is a regular speaker at competition law conferences. The latest editions of Chambers Global and Juve refer to Martin as a “leading individual” and “frequently recommended” practitioner in Germany.
