Mark Halligan heads our Chicago Intellectual Property, Media and Technology practice. He is an accomplished trial lawyer and has been practicing all aspects of intellectual property law for over 20 years. He has extensive experience with the use of automated methods for the identification and classification of trade secret assets including methods for evaluating the defendibility of trade secrets according to the relevant legal tests.

Mark's trial practice includes representing both individuals and corporations as plaintiffs and defendants both in federal courts and state courts in the United States.

Mark was recently recognized in Legal 500 United States as a leading lawyer in trade secrets litigation. He was also mentioned as a notable practitioner for Intellectual Property matters in Chambers USA.

Mark is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property issues and he serves on the Adjunct Faculty of John Marshall Law School in Chicago where he teaches trade secrets law. He is also a prolific author, including his most recent book "Trade Secret Asset Management: An Executive's Guide to Information Asset Management, Including Sarbanes-Oxley Accounting Requirements for Trade Secrets" (Aspatore Books).

Mark is an alum of Northwestern University (JD 1978) and the University of Cincinnati (BA summa cum laude 1975).

Mark serves on and chairs several bar and trade association committees, including:

- Past President of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago.

- Chair of the Trade Secrets Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).

- Chair of the American Bar Association Trade Secrets Committee.

- Member of the Richard Linn Inn of Court.
