Camdex v Bank of Zambia (Nos 1, 2 and 3)(for the Bank of Zambia)- assignment and enforcement of sovereign debt.


Office of Fair Trading v Lloyds TSB Bank plc (for Lloyds TSB)- whether s75 Consumer Credit Act 1974 applies to overseas transactions.


HM Customs & Excise v Barclays Bank PLC (for Barclays) - whether a bank served with a freezing order owed a duty of care to the claimant.

Jon is a partner specialising in banking disputes. He advises on a wide range of banking disputes for a range of domestic and international clients, including sovereign states, central banks and multilaterals.

Jon is a solicitor-advocate and has extensive contentious experience in the High Court (particularly the Commercial Court) and appellate courts in England and overseas. He has been involved in a number of the leading cases in his practice area (see "career highlights").

Jon is identified as a leading individual in banking and financial litigation and in contentious regulatory litigation in Chambers and the Legal 500 directories. He is a member of the Banking Technique and Practice Committee of ICC UK and represents the firm on the Commission of ICC UK. Jon is the main Lovells' contact for enquiries relating to anti-money laundering in the UK.
