Christian is a senior member of the insurance and reinsurance team. Within the field of insurance and reinsurance law, he has a broad practice. One major area of his practice is the drafting of policies and treaties, their interpretation and the resolution of disputes over them, working for major corporations buying insurance, and for insurance brokers and insurers developing cutting edge products. Types of insurance of particular interest are extended warranty, D&O and E&O, residual value and finite risk.
Another major area is the distribution of insurance products, brokers and other insurance agency arrangements. In addition, Christian has long experience of the operation of mutual insurance associations and of Lloyd's syndicates. He also advises London insurance market trade associations.
In all these areas, a thorough understanding of the applicable contractual, statutory, regulatory and disciplinary frameworks is essential, not to mention market systems and practices. Christian is the Chairman of the City of London Law Society's Insurance Law Committee, and a non-executive director of a mutual insurance association.
