Susan is head of the firm's competition and EU law practice. She qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and spent the following three years working in the firm's Brussels office. She then spent nine months on secondment to the US law firm, Steptoe & Johnson, where she worked in the international trade and anti-trust department, before returning to London in 1995. Susan is a solicitor-advocate.

Susan specialises in EU and UK competition law, as well as other aspects of EU law. She handles merger clearance applications to the European Commission and other national competition authorities and other competition aspects of acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures. She also represents clients under investigation by the European Commission, the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition Commission and handles on-the-spot investigations or "dawn raids". She regularly assists clients in developing compliance programmes and provides in-house training on competition matters. She has advised clients in a wide range of industries, including financial services, media, insurance and transport.

Susan is on the advisory board of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. She is named as one of The Lawyer "Hot 100" in 2007.
