Lovells sponsors research into changing patterns of company ownership

Lovells is sponsoring the business think-tank Tomorrow's Company and its research -  Tomorrow's Owners: Stewardship of Tomorrow's Company - which explores changes in company ownership.  Given recent events in the financial markets, this paper is highly relevant and Lovells' involvement with the project provides us with a unique opportunity to be seen to be at the forefront of thinking in this area.  On 24 November, Lovells hosted a roundtable discussion with key people from leading businesses to debate the issues.

Tomorrow's Company is a UK based 'think' and 'do' tank focusing on the role of business, and the relationship between business and society, and works with companies as they put new thinking into practice.

Lovells' partnership with Tomorrow's Company enables us to take an active role in the debate over important business issues which will impact the success of companies in the future.

Corporate partners Richard Ufland and Nicola Evans joined attendees from various backgrounds including Adrian Beecroft (Founder, Apax Partners), Sir John Egan (Chairman, Severn Trent plc), Colin Melvin (CEO, Hermes Equity Ownership Services Ltd) and Tim Wates (Chairman, Wates Family Holdings) to discuss the issues raised in the Tomorrow's Owners: Stewardship of Tomorrow's Company report.

The roundtable sparked an interesting debate including thoughts on private equity ownership of companies and views on professional fund managers' involvement with their investee companies.
