Lovells is shortlisted in the categories of 'Excellence in Private Practice Patent litigation (EMEA)' and 'Excellence in Domain Name Policy Implementation' at this year's WORLDleaders International IP Awards.  The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 19 November 2008 at Madame Tussauds in London.

The 'Excellence in Private Practice Patent litigation' nomination is for our work for Eli Lilly on the Zyprexa® case in Germany.  Zyprexa®, an anti-schizophrenia medication with the active compound olanzapine, is one of Eli Lilly's best selling products worldwide.  This was an unprecedented case which involved the patentee going to court requesting a preliminary injunction on the basis of a patent that was seemingly invalid.

The 'Excellence in Domain Name Policy Implementation' award is for David Taylor and his team’s work on developing a dedicated domain name practice within a law firm, covering domain name registration, management and dispute resolution service within the Lovells trademarked Anchovy®.

The shortlisted nominees are available to view on-line and a public vote will decided the winner in each category.  Please visit http://www.ipworldleaders.com.

Comment: The WORLDleaders awards, run by legal publishers Informa Law, are designed to recognise outstanding achievements by IP practitioners.  Last year Lovells won the "Trademark Excellence" award for our work representing the Swedish retailing giant Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) in a dispute against a Russian holder of the H&M trademark in Russia.  In 2006, Lovells won "The Best achievement in IP Enforcement" award for the work we did for Anheuser-Busch Inc, concerning the BUDWEISER mark in Portugal.
