David Harris has been re-appointed to the role of managing partner at Lovells, extending his term of office for a further four-year term until 30 April 2013. The election took place at the firm’s annual partnership conference in Vienna on 14 November 2008.
Lovells has recently announced half-year fee income of £260m, representing growth of 15% on 2007/08.
David Harris said:
“I've been very pleased by the level of support I've received from across the entire firm throughout this election. Our goal is to ensure we are one of the legal profession’s global elite, turned to by clients for their most complex work around the world. We are in a much stronger position than when I first took on this role in 2005 – our financial and business performance has significantly improved and there is a strong feeling of confidence across the practice and in the market about the firm. We are going into the second half of the financial year with a strong 'can-do' attitude.
Our spread of practice areas and international reach enables us to do well in a wide range of economic conditions. The credit crisis creates a significant number of client opportunities for us and we are benefiting from this in a number of ways across our practice areas. At the same time we are keeping our costs under continual, close, review.
We have increased significantly the professionalism with which we run the firm over the past few years. We need to continue our programme of investment in strategic practice areas and markets while ensuring that performance issues are addressed early and effectively.
The election has enabled us to have a good debate within the firm about where we want to be. There is a strong consensus to position the firm amongst the leaders in the market, building on all that we have achieved over the last few years. I'd like to thank Harald for his contribution to that debate. Now is the time for us to drive the firm forwards."
