LEADING PRACTITIONER DR JÜRGEN WITTE TO JOIN DÜSSELDORF OFFICE
Lovells has recruited partner Dr Jürgen Witte and Counsel Dr. Kim Mehrbrey from the German firm Aderhold von Dalwigk Knüppel Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mBH. Jürgen and Kim will focus on corporate and commercial dispute resolution work for domestic and international clients. They join with a small team of lawyers.
Jürgen is the tenth lateral hire partner for Lovells since January 2007, reflecting the firm's ongoing programme of investment in key practice areas and markets around the world.
Jürgen joined Aderhold von Dalwigk as a partner in 2001 and has been on the firm's management board since the beginning of 2005. During his time at the firm he built up a leading litigation team which was recognised by the German legal publication JUVE when in 2006 it awarded Aderhold von Dalwigk law firm of the year for dispute resolution.
Before moving into private practice Jürgen acted as a Judge and Public Prosecutor giving him an excellent grounding in litigation. Recent work highlights include acting for Mobilcom AG in litigation arising from acquisition of the UMTS 3G license.
Kim started his professional carrier with White & Case in 2000 and joined Aderhold von Dalwigk Knüppel in 2003.
Commenting on Jürgen's arrival, Lovells' managing partner David Harris, said:
"Düsseldorf and the surrounding area is one of Germany's major business centres. Jürgen's appointment boosts Lovells' dispute resolution practice in Germany and enhances our top quality full service offering in Düsseldorf.”
Detlef Hass, the head of Lovells' dispute resolution practice in Germany added:
“Jürgen's arrival at the firm comes at a time when the business environment in German is becoming more litigious. Structural changes in the German economy caused by the disruption of the old 'Deutschland AG' network, the influx of hedge funds asserting their shareholder rights and pressures from globalisation have all contributed to this trend. Jürgen will be a fantastic asset to our existing German practice as the demand for dispute resolution services increases.”
Jürgen Witte, said:
"Lovells is a great fit for me both professionally and on a personal level. I am looking forward to working for a firm with the excellent international network, resources and collaborative culture necessary to help me further develop my practice."
