Lovells is enhancing further its international dispute resolution practice with the hire of Daniel Busse as a partner based in the firm's Frankfurt office. Daniel, previously with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, is the third lateral hire to join the dispute resolution practice in the last six months, following Joe Cyr who joined the practice in April 2004 and Jose Luis Huerta who joined the Madrid office earlier this month.
Daniel Busse (34) is currently Rechtsanwalt at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Hamburg. He concentrates on corporate and banking contentious work including litigation work for two major German banks. He also has a strong focus on arbitration work.
Lovells is a market leader in international dispute resolution, with more than 100 partners and 300 qualified legal staff spread across the firm's 27 offices. The practice has experience of dispute resolution in more than 100 countries and is involved in many high profile cases, including the current ground-breaking litigation, on behalf of the Liquidators of BCCI, against the Bank of England.
Lovells' German dispute resolution practice is particularly strong in Frankfurt and Munich. In Lovells' Frankfurt office, Daniel will join the dispute resolution group consisting of partners Georg Hohner, Eckart Wilcke, Harald Seisler, Marc Zimmerling and Robert Hunter. The Frankfurt dispute resolution group is concentrating on corporate and banking litigation, professional negligence disputes, cross border litigation work and domestic and international arbitration while Munich is strong on product liability, business reconstruction and insolvency litigation. The German partners work closely with the firm’s offices in London, the US, Western Europe and Asia.
Patrick Sherrington, head of Lovells' international dispute resolution practice, said:
"Our ongoing commitment to the German dispute resolution practice and our increasing volumes of litigation and arbitration work means that we are now one of the few firms to boast a dedicated dispute resolution practice in Germany, where dispute resolution work has traditionally been part of the work of every lawyer, not a separate practice area. We are delighted that Daniel has decided to join us - he is an excellent candidate with an outstanding academic and professional track record, who will play a key role in developing the practice in Frankfurt for the future."
Harald Seisler, Frankfurt dispute resolution team leader, added:
“Daniel’s appointment is demonstrative of the strengthening of our dispute resolution practice in Frankfurt where we have always enjoyed a leading position. We have an excellent team and Daniel fits quite well to it. We will continue to enlarge our team within the next months.”
Daniel Busse said:
"I have long admired Lovells - for its strength in dispute resolution and for its qualities as a broad-based international firm which at every turn shows its devotion to delivering client service. Lovells has made very clear its intention to reinforce its worldwide pre-eminence in this field, and I am excited to become a part of it."
