Laterals

While many of our associates start their careers at Lovells directly from law school, a large number of experienced attorneys have joined the firm after holding prominent government positions or working at other law firms or in companies.  Depending on the specific needs of our offices and practice areas, we hire accomplished attorneys at various experience levels.

The firm recognizes the importance of integrating lateral associates and helps newly hired attorneys feel at home.  We expect that all attorneys at the firm will develop the same skill set and provide the necessary training to accomplish this goal. We also recognize the importance of a strong social network and have formal mentor and social programs in place that provide a venue to meet attorneys throughout the firm. For most experienced attorneys, the interview process will consist of meeting with at least three partners in a specific practice area. We also encourage candidates to meet with associates through formal interviews or informally over lunch or dinner.  Our partners are integrally involved in the interviewing process and take an active role in recruiting candidates. Such involvement ensures that we can quickly respond to candidates and offer positions to qualified applicants.
